本集选录了理查．史特劳斯交响诗中最具代表性的创作，交响诗「查拉图斯特如是说」曲首部分曾被电影「2001年太空漫游」选为配乐，乐迷定不陌生。「狄尔恶作剧」是理查最受欢迎的交响诗，曲中高潮迭起，戏剧张力极强。另外「唐璜」、「英雄的生涯」、「阿尔卑斯交响曲」也都是佼佼之作。大师萧提对乐曲的结构、音响均有独到见解，不愧为堂堂名演。
